Ryuhei Uemoto

Japan

(A Participant in “Dance Camp vol. 4”)
He started Away At Performing Arts (AAPA) in 2004, which is a performance project that occupies the “space between everyday life and continuity” outside of theater. He has been creating dance works since 2007, and has done artist residencies for BankART’s Kazuo Ohno Festival 2009, JCDN’s “We're Gonna Go Dancing!! vol.1”, and more. In 2013, he opened the Hinode Apartment Complex Studio in Kita-Senju (Adachi, Tokyo). Classes there incorporate contact improvisation which anyone can participate in, regardless of dance background. Outside of Japan, he has held workshops in Malaysia, China, and Thailand.
