Daniel Kok & Miho Shimizu "Emerging Artists" Open Studio

“Emerging Artists” is a performance that combines dance, fashion design and drag, created by Singaporean choreographer Daniel Kok and Japanese contemporary artist Miho Shimizu. The two will design a series of costumes collaboratively and a choreography that involves changing in and out of these costumes. The costumes are representations of a morphing gendered subject through which, one body (or one artist) becomes many. During their 3-week residency at Kinosaki, Kok and Shimizu will conduct a series of discussions and create preliminary sketches as the initial phase of their research. The drawings and costumes will also constitute art works themselves. Kok and Shimizu will share the initial studies of their working process with the local community of Kinosaki via an open studio showing during their stay.
