The preview performance of
Tsuyoshi Shirai(Dance)×Arditti Quartet(Music)

This is music and dance collaborative project between famous string quartet Arditti Quartet that focuses on music from the 20th century to recent music, and Japanese contemporary dancer Tsuyoshi Shirai. They have already made a collaboration between 2006 and 2008 when they worked on “Apartment house 1776”, a piece the American composer John Cage wrote for the United States’ Bicentennial. Arditti Quartet and Tsuyoshi Shirai have gained praise by performing in several places throughout Japan. For this new collaboration, they will get their inspiration through the works of composer Iannis Xenakis who was also known as an architect and a
mathematician. Ancient Greece mathematician Pythagoras and musician Aristoxenus both left a great impression on Iannis Xenakis, so their theories will possibly be materialized in the new work. In June 23th, 2017, the finished show is scheduled to be performed at Rohm Theater in Kyoto.
We will have the preview performance at the end of their stay. Don't miss it!!
