・Creations should be focused on modern performing arts.
As well as artistic activities and research, it should also be possible to run and participate in lectures and symposiums. [At least one of the following prerequisites must be met]
・Promoting Kinosaki Onsen alongside the works created during your stay when doing national or international promotion
・Activities which can actually be realized (present results of past activities, the production plan, budget plan, project scale, schedule etc.) Activities which can be appropriately managed and carried out
・A production from which we can expect either of the following:
[Internationalization] Activity and productions which aim to expand their universal/essential value positively both nationally and abroad
[Localization] Activity and productions which can create links between Kinosaki and other areas, and contribute to inter-area exchange
[Pioneering ideas] Activity and productions which can show the unprecedented way to contribute to the society with the new ideas and techniques of performing arts
[Future impact] Activity and productions which will have an impact on the future of artistic expression*Whether or not you choose to have a public performance does not affect the selection process
*It is possible that a fee may be collected from the proceeds of performances
・Activities which does not have a creative purpose during your stay (with the exception of lectures and symposiums)
・Inviting culture schools, student clubs, or interest groups (facility use may be possible for a fee)
・Productions with the sole aim of charitable donations
・To give the proceeds of the production to a specific group/organization
・To introduce already made packages e.g purchase other performances/invite other artists■Support
Kinosaki International Arts Center will support the artists with:
1.) Free use of Kinosaki International Arts Center hall, studios
2.) Free use of residences (=accommodation. Possible up to 22 guests)*As a general rule, the expenses of advertising and promotion, personnel expenses of the staff involved in the production and so on must be borne by the applicant.■Application Requirements
1.) The individual artist or group of artists can stay in Kinosaki International Arts Center for their artistic activities for a minimum of three days and for a maximum of three months.
2.) The artist should be able to speak and understand basic Japanese or English daily conversation. Or the artists should cover the fee of the interpreter.
3.) The artist should be independent, and capable of working and living on his or her own, doing such things as their own washing, cleaning and so on. If not, the artists should cover the fee of their helper.
4.) The artist should wish and be able to communicate with local people and tourists, including organizing the exchange program.
5.) The artists should follow the rules and regulations of Kinosaki International Arts Center and in case of violation, they have to accept to pay the penalty.
6.) The artist should cover the travel expense for round trip, living expense and production expense.
■Conditions of application acceptance1.) During your stay you must participate in the Local Area Contribution Program e.g. activities which will encourage creative exchange with the local people and tourists
2.) Print the name `Kinosaki International Arts Center` and logo mark on the credits of any promotional materials
3.) Agree to participation in the Art Center promotion. (Specifically for the Art Center to show photos, videos and share information regarding the work created during your stay, and the artists involved).
*About the Local Area Contribution Program
Introduce your creative production process and work to the local people and tourists, and offer other events and opportunities for creative exchange with them, such as presentations of the finished work, rehearsal performances, open studios, workshops, talk shows and so on.
■How to apply
Applicants are required to submit all of the items listed below by e-mail (to firstname.lastname@example.org
) by 23:59 Japan standard time of the due date. Please write in the subject line of the email “Application for the 2016 AIR program” and follow the instructions detailed when filling in applications.

3.) A document detailing the plan of activities during your stay (max 5 pages, A4 size).
4.) A documents which shows past achievements such as newspaper articles, magazine reviews or letter of recommendation from a respected person.
5.) So we can better understand your work, copies of photos or videos of past productions. (Videos must be max. 5 mins in length and be able to be viewed online. Please send us the URL link).*As a general rule, all applications must be sent by email, however, in the case that they are sent by post too, please ensure they arrive to the Kinosaki International Art Center facility before the deadline.
*We will send a confirmation email to say that we have received your application. If you do not receive this email within 2 days of sending your application, please contact Kinosaki International Art Center. ■Application deadline23:59 Japan Standard Time on 16th June 2015.
