Applications are now open for the 2017 Artist in Residence Program at Kinosaki International Arts Center (KIAC), a creative residence facility centered around the performing arts.
Kinosaki International Arts Center is situated in Kinosaki Onsen town, a hot spring town blessed with 1300 years of history. Kinosaki is located in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, which is well known for its rich natural environment and successful reintroduction story of Oriental White Storks. KIAC is a facility where artists can concentrate on their creative activities, and since 2014 many artists have stayed here to create pieces of work which have then spread throughout Japan and overseas.
Coming into the fourth year of the residence program, the 2017 selection criteria will be based upon previous production results, as well as the presence of the following characteristics in the proposed works: potential for diffusion, internationality, regionality, innovation and future promise.
Through this residence program, we hope to create opportunities for exchange and creativity between artists, local residents and tourists.
