Community Dance Practitioner Training School 2021
Japan/camp
Community dance is an activity in which artists are involved and utilize the "power of dance" in the community based on the idea that "everyone can create and dance" regardless of age, gender, disability, or lack of dance experience. In recent years, there has been a growing movement in Japan to utilize the "power of dance" in various fields of society such as education, welfare, medical care, and community development. At the same time, there is a need for community dance facilitators. At the same time, there is a need for artists, or community dance facilitators, to work at these sites. The school has been in operation since 2014 with the aim of training such community dance facilitators in Japan.

NPO Japan Contemporary Dance Network (JCDN) organizes a training school for community dance practitioners. Following the model of residential “Summer School” organized by Foundation for Community Dance in England, it was initially scheduled for the summer 2020. Due to the COVID-19, it is postponed to the autumn 2021. The participants will develop their expertise necessary for a practitioner through workshops and discussions.
